FEEL GOOD TV SHOWS: What to watch when feeling down

We all have those days when we feel down. Sometimes there is a good reason for it, sometimes it’s just something that came over you out of nowhere and you can’t quite explain why you’re feeling this way. And when this time comes, it can sometimes be hard to deal with it. Friends, good cup of tea and some delicious snack might help but what I find really useful is to just immerse myself in a different world: and that’s when TV shows come in. If you like me feel the need to escape the real world then read on: these are my favourite TV shows to binge watch when I’m feeling blue.

1) FRIENDS

Friends is possibly my most-watched and most-loved TV show of all times. I know most of the episodes by heart yet it never gets old. If you need to have a laugh (and an occasional cry, too, of course), Chandler, Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, Joey and Ross will be there for you (pun unintended, I swear).

2) Gilmore Girls

There are no words to describe my love for this show. Lorelai’s and Rory’s relationship is just so pure and lovely. If you want something to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, go watch Gilmore Girls! Where else can you find a nerdy relatable teenage girl and the fastest speaking & cool mom ever?

Side effects: Always makes me want to eat a lot of unhealthy food!

3) Doctor Who

Again, I have so much love for this TV show. Whether you want to watch the classic episodes or the newer ones, the Doctor will always be here for you. There is a lot of material to go through if you really feel like escaping reality for a long time. Plus, you know, you will actually be escaping reality: in a great blue box that’s bigger on the inside and can travel through time and space. This show really is the whole package: you will cry, laugh, you will be scared and amazed. One thing is guaranteed: you will feel like you matter because remember what the Doctor says: Nine hundred years of time and space and I’ve never met anybody who wasn’t important.

4) The Big Bang Theory

I mean, this is so obvious: what is a better way to cure you feeling low than to watch a bunch of losers and outsiders going through life with loads of humour? This is the one show that made me and possibly millions of other people feel proud of being a nerd and a geek. The one show that tackles important issues but always makes you laugh without fail.

5) Glee

Again with the outsiders, I know. I just find it relatable (guess who has no friends?). Glee is a TV show that does not take itself seriously on any level: and it’s great because of it. I mean if you make an episode about Grilled Cheesus, you can’t be super serious, can you? However, Glee (again) tackles some serious issues: you have bullying, homosexuality, teenage pregnancy – and it does so by singing great songs and making fun of everyone and everything.

PS: Don’t stop believing!

These are my top 5 feel good TV shows. Please, please let me know in the comments if you have any other shows like these in store because I need them! We all need something to cheer us up sometimes.

Oh, and remember: you matter!
